About
Best Indian Buffett in the Bay Area. While the food is tasty, the amount of spices are so balanced. No heartburn afterwards and that is the biggest problem with Indian cuisine. The variety of dishes offered are very delicious. Naans are the best. I highly recommend this place.
I recently tried lunch buffet and had an okay experience, though there’s room for improvement to fully bring out the potential of their menu.
The meal started strong with the lime chicken appetizer, which was the highlight for me. Its flavors were perfectly balanced, and the Indian twist on Caesar salad was a delightful pairing. The tandoori chicken, however, was just okay and could use a bit more seasoning to make it memorable. The bread rolls were excellent—soft, warm, and truly enjoyable.
For the main course, the vegetarian biryani stood out as a well-made dish. However, the other options didn’t quite hit the mark. The goat curry was a bit chewy and could use more flavor, and while the butter chicken had a nice tangy sauce, the meat itself could be more flavorful. The non-veg biryani also lacked the complexity of spices I was expecting.
One thing that stood out was the mildness of the dishes. Indian cuisine is known for its bold and vibrant flavors, and a little more spice and heat could elevate the overall dining experience. Additionally, serving the food a bit hotter would add to its appeal.
This restaurant has great potential, with a few dishes already standing out as exceptional. With some fine-tuning, especially in flavor and spice, I’m confident they could deliver an authentic and memorable Indian dining experience. I look forward to revisiting and seeing how they grow!
All around good food, good service!
Tables are little congested especially around the aisle.
Buffet is phenomenal, better than Sakoon's.
We ordered Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, it can just with yogurt and not mirchi ka salad, biryani was bland, could be more flavorful.
They got Taj Mahal beer! 🍺
Rest of the food was good, it has nice ambiance.

Here's a review incorporating all the details you provided: "Mantra in Mountain View offers a fantastic weekend buffet brunch that's an absolute steal at $24.99! We were blown away by the variety and quality of the food. The starter selection alone was impressive, with delicious papdi-chaat, perfectly grilled chicken wings, and succulent chicken tandoori. A fresh salad and fruit bar complemented the appetizers nicely. What truly sets Mantra apart is its extensive spread of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. As non-veg enthusiasts, we were in heaven! The goat meat was a standout, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. While the shrimp masala wasn't our favorite, the murgi mughlai and chicken biryani were absolutely yummy – definitely highlights of the meal. They even have a live dosa station, complete with sambhar, which is a unique and welcome addition. We did notice the absence of some classic dishes like makhani daal and paneer masala, though the paneer methi masala was a good alternative. Adding those traditional dishes, along with sag paneer, would elevate the buffet even further. The baingan and other veg options were plentiful and tasty. The dessert selection was simply divine. The gulaab jamun and moong daal halwa were the best we’ve had in a long time! The jackfruit kheer was decent, but those two desserts stole the show. And let's not forget the incredible bread basket, featuring a great variety of fresh breads. To top it all off, the flavorful chai was the perfect ending to our sumptuous meal. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant.
