Ordered the most expensive lamb biriyani for take away but found that it's portion size is actually smaller than Panda Express take away boxes. I would have ignored the portion size if the most expensive dish would have tasted like what it was meant for! Biriyani came with parcooked rice and with tiny lamb pieces (5-6 pieces). The biriyani rice was actually pulao rice as it came with green peas (I mean literally!!) and with no biryani flavor. May be the Americans can eat these without knowing the authenticity of biriyani but as an Indian, I expected to have at least average taste of biriyani, especially when paying an expensive amount of $28+$2.42(tax)= $30.42 for Lamb biriyani. That was a completely fake Biriyani. I won't go there again and recommend folks not to waste their hard earned money on this restaurant or at least with this dish!

I am a pure vegetarian and here are the things we tried:

1. Chilli cheese pakora - thinking it to be an authentic delhi based restaurant, the pakoras were okayish and salty. There were jalapenos instead of chilli and no hint of spicy at all. However they were just okayish. 2/5 2. Gujarati bund gobhi chana- this was also okay and had a homely flavour but quantity is very less. 3/5 3. Paneer cheese stuffed naan - this was flavour ful and soft. 4/5 4. Masala garlic naan - this was not at all what I expected. They had some garlic powder put on the naan instead of actual garlic. Okayish. 3/5 5. Nimbu paani - i thought if the name is typical indian then the taste should be too. However, it's same as store bought concentrated lemon juice mixed with soda. 2/5

Overall, the food was okay but the owner was really generous and kind. We enjoyed the dinner and he kept checking on us about the food which was nice.

Dining at New Delhi Restaurant in San Francisco was a truly memorable experience that beautifully blended elegance, flavor, and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we were transported into a space that felt both luxurious and deeply rooted in Indian tradition. The ambiance was serene and refined, making it the perfect setting for an intimate dinner or upscale group gathering.

The cocktail menu was exceptional! Each drink was not only thoughtfully crafted, but could also be transformed into a refreshing mocktail without compromising taste or presentation. This level of flexibility and detail speaks volumes about their commitment to a wide range of guests.

When it came to the cuisine, New Delhi exceeded every expectation. Every dish was a masterclass in balance, with spices that awakened the palate and flavors that felt both comforting and exciting. The food was phenomenal, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of India with a modern, elevated twist.

The service was just as impressive, attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. The staff ensured every course was paced perfectly and that we felt taken care of throughout the entire meal.

New Delhi Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience elevated Indian cuisine in San Francisco. Whether you’re indulging in a handcrafted cocktail, savoring their bold and complex dishes, or simply soaking in the luxurious atmosphere, every element comes together in harmony. Delicious dinner at this elegant Indian restaurant downtown. I enjoyed the mixed tandoori grill which arrived at the table piping hot. The service was excellent, and the owner was super friendly and attentive. He even offered to make a special sauce for my tandoori plate.

My friend and I loved New Delhi Restaurant & Bar. On the outside, this restaurant resembles a charming little destination, but we were surprised by the beautiful and large interior that greeted us. Inside is a classic bar and behind a large ball room with carefully decorated set tables. The service we had was spot on. We both had water glasses that never went empty, and I had a wonderful mango lassi that I had to have seconds of. The food was delicious, plentiful and well priced! We had naan bread, sizzling Chicken Tikka, and the Chicken Pepper Curry. All the flavors were warm, the smells heavenly and the atmosphere and service added a warming feeling to the dinner experience. The owner came to welcome us and it was such a nice experience we will absolutely be back again with friends. If you want good food, come here. We left with left overs and full bellies. I’m so excited to have them tomorrow! Thank you to our servers, chefs and the owner! We appreciate you!
